NGS Super announces chair retirement
NGS Super has announced Chair Dick Shearman will retire at the end of December, following ten years of service on the fund’s board. Shearman has a made a substantial contribution to the fund, but also to the broader education sector as both a teacher and a senior union official.
Deputy Chair Dr Geoff Newcombe AM will take on the role of Interim Chair and Georgina Smith Interim Deputy Chair, while the board recruits for an independent Chair. Director Terry Burke has been appointed as the Chair of the Investment Committee.
Shearman said: “After starting my career as a secondary teacher of economics and history, it’s been a great privilege to guide the industry superfund for those who work in independent and catholic education over the past ten years.”
Former Macquarie Bank chair joins UniSuper Board and Investment Committee
UniSuper has announced the appointment of Peter Warne to its board as an independent non-executive Director and Chair of Investment Committee from 1 January 2023.
With over 40 years’ experience in financial services and banking, Warne recently retired as Chair of Macquarie after 6 years in this role and 15 years as a Director. Additionally, he has served on the board of several ASX companies.
UniSuper’s Chief Executive Officer Peter Chun said, “Mr Warne’s appointment to our Board and as Chair of our Investment Committee brings incredible experience, wisdom and insight which is sure to benefit the fund and our members. Members should feel assured that the appointment of a professional of this calibre to the Board is a real vote of confidence for the future of the fund.”
